Winning for the third time in four career starts, Yaneth Cabrera’s Pretty Woody Jesse parlayed a perfect break into a one-length victory in Sunday’s $130,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3) at SunRay Park. Piloted by Tanner Thedford for trainer Javier Roman Jr., the filly by Jesse James Jr. was in control throughout the 350-yard contest and stopped the timer at :17.348 to earn $61,100.
Bred by Eloy Duree out of the Woodbridge mare Woodbridge Duchess, Pretty Woody Jesse kicked off her career with a victory in a trial for the New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2). She finished eighth in the $212,450 final but rebounded with another victory and the fastest qualifying time in her New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity trial. Her earnings now stand at $72,019.
Diamond Racing Stables LLC’s Regal First Moon, a First Moonflash filly who chased Pretty Woody Jesse and finished second in their trial while making her career debut, finished second again. Jason Giles and Ezra Elton Lee’s Seeyalateralligator, a gelding by Winners Version who went off as the favorite after winning his trial and racing debut by 1 ¼ lengths, finished third.
