Fastest qualifier and 9-5 favorite Moonifisant scored a half-length victory and won for the third time in as many starts in Sunday’s $231,438 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) at Sunland Park. Ridden by Jaime Leos for trainer Juan Gonzalez, the colt by Sixes Royal dashed 300 yards in :14.706 to win the New Mexico-bred contest.

Bred by Dosi and Norma Alvarez and owned by Peter Gallegos, Robert Sanchez and Patricia Gonzalez, Moonifisant kicked off his career with a neck win against maidens on March 1 at Sunland Park. He returned to the track on March 15 to take his New Mexican Spring Futurity trial by three lengths with the fastest qualifying time. The colt has banked $125,875 in his three wins.

Threedeewoodee, a gelded son of the Dash Ta Fame stallion Woodbridge running for owner Gary Thompson and trainer Dick Powell, finished a clear second and picked up $41,658. Manuel Gutierrez rode.

Woodbridge also sired the third-place finisher Woodys Allstar, who runs for Joe Dee Brooks, Ted Rushing and Lee Lewis. G.R. Carter rode for trainer Mike Joiner.

Both Threedeewoodee and Woodys Allstar were bred by MJ Farms, where Woodbridge stands near Veguita, New Mexico.
