Trainer Hector Magallanes could be ready for a big year in the Northwest from his juvenile contingent since he has five runners, including the top-two qualifiers, in the $40,000-est. Pot O Gold Futurity at Sun Downs on Sunday afternoon.

The two-fastest qualifiers are Yaqueline Ibarra’s Avatarr (Brookstone Bay-JN Sonoma Rose by Meter Me Gone) and Ruben Magallanes’ Angel Eyez (FDD Dynasty-Angel Lane by Lanes Leinster). Completing his fivesome are Eagle B Gone (One Famous Eagle-Go Girl Gone by Shazoom), Kool Chivato (First Prize Perry-BCR Chivato Krisp by Dash To Chivato) and Rock De Noche (Rock Solid Jess-La Reina De La Noche by First Down Dash).

Avatarr and Angel Eyez, the strong favorites, each overwhelmed their trial competition while making their first starts.

Avatarr quickly opened up a daylight advantage in the first of three trials and rolled under the wire 2 lengths in front with a :15.880 time for the 300 yards.

Angel Eyez started in the following trial and nearly matched Avatarr’s winning margin when she won by 1 3/4 lengths. She stopped the timer in :15.900.
