Louisiana Distaffers Face Off

La Mos Chingono, Unrealistic Head Montgomery Stakes.

October 18, 2012

The top-two finishers in the $40,000 Audubon Stakes for Louisiana-bred distaffers, La Mos Chingono and Unrealistic, return to head the two $30,000 divisions of the 350-yard Billy Montgomery Stakes with similar conditions on Saturday at Evangeline Downs.

Oscar Rohne’s La Mos Chingono (Heza Fast Dash-Rita Regent by Gold Regent (TB)) tops the second division after winning two stakes from three starts this year and being the strong favorite in each of those starts. The Kenneth Roberts Jr.-trained mare won the $40,000 Party Girl Stakes at Fair Grounds back in February as the 2-5 favorite and then scored a neck win over Unrealistic in August as the 7-5 choice.

La Mos Chingono’s sole defeat this year came in the $60,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes when she lost all chance and finished last behind Pantherinthefastlane.

Wade Jr. and Kay Loup’s homebred Pantherinthefastlane (Panther Mountain-Sheza Neon Rose by Takin On The Cash) raced to her only win this year in the Flashy Hemp at nearly 10-1 odds. She was then sixth in the Audubon for trainer Vann Haywood.

In the first division, Gerald Libersat’s Unrealisitic (Heza Fast Dash-Real Or Imagined by Dash For Cash) was seventh in the Flashy Hemp and then gave La Mos Chingono a fight in the Audubon when she was a game second. The Kevin Broussard-trained mare raced to a win in last year’s Billy Montgomery to cap a four-race winning streak.
