Iron Maiden Dash Wins Unofficial Brazilian Futurity

Dash To Chivato runner wins three-figure unofficial Brazilian Futurity.

It was a big weekend for racing in Brazil, as they ran the $280,000 Grande Premio Brazlian Futurity at Sorocaba as well as hosting a yearling sale. The futurity is not an official AQHA race.

Iron Maiden Dash won the April 22 Grande Premio Brazilian Futurity by three-quarters of a length in :19.70 for 400 yards, earning about $111,000 U.S. and a 95 speed index. Iron Maiden Dash is by Dash To Chivato out of the Streakin Six mare All American Beauty. Iron Maiden Dash had also won one of the five trials for the big race on the previous day, finishing that race in :19.75.

Bred by Benny Rosset’s Haras Flor Do Campo, Iron Maiden Dash is owned by Edson Freitas Da Silva, trained by S.R. Souza and was ridden by C. Medina in the big race. Medina was also up in the trial. Each of the five trial heat winners advanced to the final.

Runner-up Madonna Jess (Gold Medal Jess-Miss Gold Ease by Holland Ease) earned about $31,000 U.S. for finishing second. Owned by Rafael Candia, Jr., Madonna Jess So was trained by A. Marques and ridden by M. Praxedes. Madonna Jess So was the fastest qualifier with a :19.52, winning by nearly 2 lengths and earning a 101 speed index.

Royal Quick Tolltac (Royal Quick Dash-Summer Toll, by Tolltac) was third. Owned Luis Carlos Sawedra, Royal Quick Tolltac was trained by L. Melgareo and ridden by D.F. Dias. Avenca Stone (by SC Chiseled In Stone) was fourth, followed by A Fast Bullet (by Tolltac Daring).
