Glen and Jill Jamison’s Dreaming To Fly, chasing his third-straight win in the Idaho Cup Futurity, and Adequan Les Bois Derby Challenge runner-up Lil Dip A Nitro in the Idaho Cup Derby provide an interesting futurity-derby doubleheader on Saturday at Les Bois Park.

Dreaming To Fly (Legendary Dreamer-New Porter by Strawfly Special) won an open allowance race at Les Bois on July 6, and that set him up for a game head win as the even-money favorite in his Idaho Cup Futurity (R) trial. The R. Mike Scudder-trained gelding was timed in :17.815 for 350 yards, and second-place finisher Seperate List (Separatist-Down The List by Strawfly Special) came up with the second-fastest time of :17.843.

Bob and Scott Giltner’s Seperate List has only made two starts and been a close second in each effort. The Kurt Calton-trained gelding was beaten by a neck during his career debut in June.

Dawna Jenkins and Dennis Cain’s Lil Dip A Nitro (Royal Miracle Dip-Attract by Twaynas Dash) may be in the best form of his 13-race career. After finishing a well-beaten second in the Adequan Les Bois Derby Challenge at 23-1 odds, the Calton trainee stepped up with 1 1/4-length win in his Idaho Cup Derby (R) trial. His time of :19.985 was easily the top qualifying mark.

Lil Dip Of Nitro was third a year ago in the Idaho Cup Futurity (R).
