Heza Fast Rogue Tops Berwick Trials

Runners by Heza Fast Dash take four of 10 spots in rich Delta Downs stakes.

Progeny of Louisiana stallion Heza Fast Dash had a big night on Saturday as they captured the first three trials and four of the 10 fastest times in the 12 trials to the $564,895 Lee Berwick Memorial Louisiana-Bred Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs. The final is set to be run on July 13 for the race is named in honor of the former AQHA president and founder of Delta Downs.

Brock Broussard’s Heza Fast Rogue, who broke his maiden impressively on May 31 at Delta Downs, visited the winner’s circle again after taking the third heat with the fastest qualifying time of :17.318 for 350 yards. The Heza Fast Dash colt, who was bred by Triple M Farms LLC, scored by 1 ¼ lengths with Donald Watson up for trainer Kevin Broussard.

JLS Go Big Daddy, a gelding by Bigtime Favorite who won a trial to the Sam Houston Futurity (G2) and finished third in the Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes (R), took the ninth trial with the second-fastest time of :17.370.
