Fury Of The Storm continued to excel as a 3-year-old on Sunday as he captured the $75,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (RG2) at SunRay Park. The victory marked the second consecutive graded stakes win for the colt by Furyofthewind after he took the New Mexico HBA Stakes (RG2) in February at Sunland Park. In his only other start as a 3-year-old, he finished second in Sunland’s Shue Fly Stakes (RG2).

Ridden by Esgar Ramirez, the bay runner prevailed by a neck with a :19.768 clocking for 400 yards. Bred by Bill and Sandy Miller, the colt runs for Jaime Dominguez and SM Cattle Export Company with Roberto Sanchez handling the training duties. Sent off as the 2-1 second choice, Fury Of The Wind picked up $45,000 for the win and has now earned $192,231 with a record of 8-4-3-0.

Yaneth Cabrera’s Untangled Vines, a gelding by Jesse James Jr, finished second with Sparklin Royal in third for breeder/owner Gary Kloppenburg. Favored First Blazin Love, who beat Fury Of The Storm in the Shue Fly, finished fourth.
