The Jose Flores-trained pair of Fiesty Flo and Sis Is Hot bring the two-fastest times from the entrants to the $223,800 La Primera Del Ano Derby (G3) for fillies on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.
Freakier LLC’s Fiesty Flo (TR Dasher-Sables Bono by Bono Jazz) wrapped up her 2-year-old campaign in top form when she finished second in the $35,000 Los Alamitos Two Million Juvenile (R). She was then given a three-month breather and came through with her second career win when she won her La Primera trial by a neck with a :19.631 mark for the 400 yards.
While Feisty Flo has only two wins, she has been second five additional times from her nine starts.

Owned by Julio Encinas, Robert Parra and Paul Penuelas, Sis Is Hot (Walk Thru Fire-Chickasis by Chicks Beduino) finished in a trouble-laden 10th place in the $1,916,525 Los Alamitos Two Million (G1) and then also came back three months later to win her La Primera trial. She was timed in :19.652 for the head win over Ed Allred’s homebred Quirky (Stel Corona-Dont Pass Bar by A Regal Choice), who was timed in :19.668.
The Vessels Stallion Farms’ homebred Dynasty Of Habits (FDD Dynasty-One More Habit by Apollo (TB)) should contend with a consistent record highlighted by a second-place finish in the $425,000 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity (G2). The Cody Joiner-trained filly has finished in the top-two runners in five of seven starts. She stumbled at the start of her La Primera trial and then finished one-half length behind Fiesty Flo with a :19.689 time.
