Kathy Pruitt Germany's Fast N Furious B drew post 8 for Sunday's 350-yard, $129,100-added Four Corners Futurity (G3) at SunRay Park.
A sorrel gelding by the First Down Dash stallion First N Kool, Fast N Furious B made his career debut with a three-quarter length victory in the second of six trials on June 1. Trained by John Stinebaugh, Fast N Furious B covered his 350-yard trip in :17.519 under jockey Freddie Martinez, who has been named to ride the gelding in Sunday's final.
Second-fastest qualifier Surf N Turf Dude broke his maiden with a 1 1/4-length win as the 5-2 favorite in the third heat. James J. Gonzales II trains the chestnut colt by 2006 AQHA world champion Wave Carver for owner Mike G. Parker.
Surf N Turf Dude will be ridden by jockey Noe Garcia from the rail post in the final.
The history of the Four Corners Futurity dates back to its first running at San Juan Downs in 1984. The stakes first achieved Grade 3 status in '02, and its past winners include 2011 AQHA champion 2-year-old colt Feature Mr Bojangles.
The winner of this year's Four Corners Futurity will earn $60,677.
