David West’s Sheezespeciallyfast brings a sharp record and success over short distances into the first of the division $25,000 Evangeline Downs Dash at 220 yards on Saturday evening at Evangeline Downs.

In the second division, Gerald Lebersat’s Taylors Toastin Papa tries for fourth stakes win and fifth victory from eight starts this year.

Sheezespeciallyfast (Heza Fast Dash-Spice Your Glass by Special Effort) has been on the board in nine of 10 starts this year and has a win and second-place run in her only two starts at the distance. Two starts ago, in a $25,000 optional-claiming race she won over 220 yards at Evangeline Downs by a half length, an impressive margin at such a short distance.

The Kevin Broussard-trained mare came back in the Billy Montgomery Stakes (RG3) at 350 yards and finished third by one-half length after racing near the lead.

Jaime Torres’ Memorys Fast Dash (Heza Fast Dash-Grab A Memory by Holland Ease) won the 250-yard Gentilly Dash Stakes two starts ago at Fair Grounds. He got up to win by a nose in :12.978 after returning from nearly a 10-month layoff.

Guadalupe Garcia’s Corona Mistress (Corona For Me-Fastmans Mistress by Heza Fast Man) is another short-yardage specialist with a second in the 110-yard Texas Twister Stakes back in April. He finished in a dead heat for the win in his only start at 220 yards, a $7,500 conditioned claiming race.

Taylors Toastin Papa (Toast To Dash-Tacha La Jolla by Streakin La Jolla) comes into the second division trying to continue his break-out season. He won the Mr Jess Perry Stakes (RG3) at Louisiana Downs and the Juan Alleman Stakes (RG3) at Delta Downs in successive starts earlier this year.

The Keven Broussard-trained Taylors Toastin Papa comes off a win in the Don Cravin Stakes (R) by a neck at Evangeline Downs. He closed well to get the win in :19.859 for the 400 yards.

JLS-Speed Horse Ranch’s JLS Party Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Dancing Tonight by On A High) is after his first stakes win since taking the 2011 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) early in his juvenile season. He may be rounding into form for trainer Darrell Soileau with a nose win over 330 yards in and Evangeline Downs allowance race in his latest effort.
