Heza Fast Invictus brings fastest-qualifier honors into the Double Gold Futurity (RG3) and Daltsguninforsuccess holds the same distinction for the Iowa Double Gold Derby this weekend at Prairie Meadows.

These are stallion progeny races with the futurity on Saturday night and the derby following on Sunday.

Marty and Shalia Powers’ Heza Fast Invictus (Mighty Invictus-Sheza Fast Jewel by Heza Fast Man) is unbeaten from two starts for trainer Kasey Willis. The gelding won his maiden at first asking at Canterbury Park and then rallied to take his Double Gold Futurity trial by a neck with the top time of :17.658 for 350 yards.

Willis will also send out third-fastest qualifier Capital Eye (Ivory James-Fantastic Six by Mr Eye Opener), owned by Kenneth Ruthardt. The gelding won his trial by half of a length in :17.702. It was his second win from three starts with his only defeat being a close fourth-place finish in the $64,363 Desert Classic Futurity.

Don Anthony and Larry Thompson’s Daltsguninforsuccess (Cartel Success-Dalts Pistol by Mr Eye Opener) looks for her first stakes win in the Double Gold Derby after finishing third in the Easy Date Stakes this spring at Remington Park. The Jackie Kirby-trained filly won the second of two trials by a nose over Sheri Andrew’s Sooner Regards (Chicks Regard-Yawls Spreadin Rumors by Serious Rumors).

Daltsguninforsuccess was timed in :19.919 for the 400 yards, while Sooner Regards was timed in :19.928.

The Brent Clay-trained Sooner Regards makes his first stakes start since racing in last year’s Iowa Double Gold Futurity.
