Prospect To The Top races at Lone Star Park.
October 24, 2013
Two-time champion Prospect To The Top takes on Texas-breds for the first time when he heads the $25,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes Saturday night at Lone Star Park.
Joel Tavarez’s Prospect To The Top (Coronas Prospect-Cream To The Top by Easily Smashed) was named the 2011 champion 3-year-old colt and returned last year – after standing a season at stud – as champion aged stallion. This year, he once again spent the spring in the breeding shed and returned to racing to continue a winning streak that has now reached four stakes races.
Prospect To The Top concluded his 2012 championship campaign with wins in the Zia Park Championship (G1) and The Championship at Sunland Park (G1). He returned to action this year with trainer Brandon Muniz to win the 440-yard All American Gold Cup (G3) at Ruidoso Downs and then win the James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.
Testing Prospect To The Top will be the come-back king Sure Shot B (Stoli-She A Miracle by Dean Miracle), owned by Charles Forbes Jr. and Tommy Hays. After a nearly 11-month layoff, he responded with a game head win in a Lone Star Park allowance as the 3-2 favorite for trainer Bobby Martinez.
Sure Shot B was one of the leading members of his division at 2 when he won the $1,158,941 Texas Classic Futurity (G1) and qualified for the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1).
G.S. Fikes’ Loves Brown Sugar (Prime Talent-Loves Easter Bunny by Royal Shake Em) had a five-race winning streak end when she stepped up in class and was a troubled sixth in the $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1), her latest start. She culminated her winning streak with three wins in minor stakes at Retama Park.
