Will Rogers Downs on Saturday hosted three trials for the $405,000 Black Gold Futurity Championship (RG3), and Bill Price’s homebred BP Coronas Policy won the final heat with the fastest qualifying time.

With Berkley Packer in the saddle for trainer Rodney Reed, the Corona Cartel colt prevailed by a neck with a 400-yard clocking in :19.763. The Oklahoma-bred came into the trials off a third-place finish in the October 6 Black Gold 350 Futurity (R) and has now won three of six career starts.

Rafter SM Ranch’s homebred SM Chicks N Garters, a colt by Country Chicks Man, ran a game second to BP Coronas Policy and posted the second-fastest time.

Lota Luck Racing’s Regard Watah, a gelding by Chicks Regard, won the second heat to record his fourth career victory and the third-fastest time.

The first trial went to Preston and Karen Cloud’s Rocketair, a gelding by Jumpn who earned the sixth-fastest time.
