There’s a new No. 1 in the latest AQHA Racing-Horseplayernow.com National Poll for older horses. Wicked Courage earned that distinction by posting his fifth consecutive win of the season in Saturday’s Rainbow Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs. Now 5-for-5 on the year and a winner in nine straight races dating back to last September, Wicked Courage moved up two places from No. 3 last week to garner all but one first-place vote in the balloting.

Prior No. 1 Priceless Feature slid a single position, and is followed by Rylees Boy, Brace For Bernal and Last To Fire among the Top 5. There were no other major changes to the poll for older horses as the same top 10 remained with a new leader at the top.

As for the 2-year-olds, Sunday’s Rainbow Futurity (G1) heroine Ms First Prize Rose scored a nose victory over Belle Helene, and both earned spots in this week’s top 10. Ms First Prize Rose checked in at No. 3, while Belle Helene rounded out the rankings at No. 10. The juvenile poll continues to be paced by Big Biz Perry, 90-88, in narrow balloting over Five Bar Cartel.
