Racing Free

The Racing Free team is proud to announce another racetrack stepping up and taking a stance against performance-enhancing drugs in racing. For the summer 2013 meet, General Manager Shaun Hubbard has announced that Ruidoso Downs Race Track will be in full support of the Racing Free goals and mission. The track will feature Racing Free ads in the racing programs as well as membership forms available to horsemen. Both parties will also work together to schedule the first "Racing Free Day" during the 4th of July weekend with special promotions and rewards for Incentive Program member-horses and owners.

Since its founding in May of 2012, Racing Free has been gaining members and support from organizations across the country including AQHA, OQHRA, TRACK Magazine, Remington Park, The Corona Cartel Syndicate, Bob Moore Farms, Terry Bell Farms, Cal Density Equine, LMR Racing, Oak Creek Ranch, Valley Farm, Bird Ranch, Speedhorse Magazine, and stallionesearch.com.

“We’re ready for more of the key players to step up and support an organization like Racing Free” said Micah McKinney, co-founder. "Racing Free is committed to leveling the field, and we’re excited to bring together others who share that commitment.”

The Racing Free team encourages all horsemen to look into the benefits of enrolling horses that are racing at Ruidoso Downs into the Racing Free Incentive Program. For a $300 membership fee, any time a member-horse wins any race and receives a clear drug test, the owner of the horse will be rewarded $1,500 in monetary rewards. There are also opportunities available for breeders, trainers, industry organizations and race enthusiasts to get involved with corporate sponsorships and the Racing Free Breeder Incentive Program.

After an extremely successful spring racing season with over 120 members, the Racing Free team hopes to keep this momentum into the Ruidoso meet and beyond. All horsemen are encouraged to sign horses up for the Incentive Program at Ruidoso Downs and for the Breeder Incentive Program for the Ruidoso Super Select and Heritage Place yearling sales.
