The second racing program of the 2012 Remington Park American Quarter Horse & Mixed-Breed Season is a bonus program with plenty of extra action. An elongated session of 15 trials will be conducted this Saturday to determine the qualifiers for the historic Oklahoma Futurity (G2).

Due to the longer racing schedule of 15 trials, Remington Park will begin racing at 5 p.m. (Central) on Saturday, March 3.

The Oklahoma Futurity, the longest-running futurity in Quarter Horse racing dating to 1947, is the first of three major futurities on the Remington Park stakes schedule. The $325,000 (estimated) Oklahoma Futurity final will be run on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17.

The initial stakes race of the season will be offered on Sunday as the Grade 2, $50,000 Eastex Handicap is featured. At 350 yards, many of the top older Quarter Horses are expected to make their 2012 debuts in the Eastex.

The first Sunday afternoon racing program of the season on March 4 will begin at 1:30 p.m.
