Racing Free

Racing Free is an organization dedicated to promoting clean racing.

After an incredible year of pushing the envelope and partnering with hundreds of racehorse owners who have the reaped the benefits of membership, the Racing Free team is targeting even higher goals in the coming year.

In 2013, Racing Free made great strides toward furthering its mission — to create a horseracing environment free of performance-enhancing medications. In the last year, the program celebrated a membership pool of more than 500 horses, over 20 sponsors, and no therapeutic overages or positive drug tests in over 150 wins.

Racing Free team members were prominent at popular Quarter Horse racetracks and traveled the country speaking to owners about where the most help was needed to motivate change in the industry. After countless hours of visiting with racing participants and promoting Racing Free, the organization was proud to receive a nomination for the 2013 AQHA Gordon Crone Special Achievement Award. The Thoroughbred racing community also has embraced Racing Free ideals with over 50 horses enrolled during the fall.

As spring race meets approach at Remington Park, Sunland Park, and Sam Houston Race Park, Racing Free is setting more goals and looking for increased industry involvement to continue making strides toward creating a positive future for racing.
