Jockey Osvaldo Macias picked up his first Quarter Horse win ever after guiding the Eloy Navarro-trained Jumpn Star to victory in the fourth race on Saturday night at Los Alamitos. Owned by Ozzy Martinez, Jumpn Star won at 14-1 odds. The 25-year-old Macias has spent the last several years as a gallop boy for several major barns, including Ed Allred’s stable. Macias took the victory in stride and is now looking forward to more visits to the winner’s circle.

“I’ve been galloping horses practically my whole life,” said the Guadalajara native. “It feels nice to have won this race and I’m glad that it’s done and out of the way. I’m hoping that I can duplicate this win many more times.”
