Willie Hunt, a longtime horsemen from Sallisaw, Oklahoma, has lapsed into a coma and was transferred from Sallisaw Hospital to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Arkansas last night in critical condition. 

Hunt, 78, has been very involved in keeping the former Blue Ribbon Downs open as a training center in the Sallisaw area. He and his former wife Shirley are well known in the racing family, Shirley ran the track kitchen at Sunland and at Ruidoso for many years.

A former jockey, then trainer, Willie has been involved in Quarter Horse racing all of his life. He is one of nine children that were all raised in the horse business and is the older brother of Johnny and Charlie Hunt.

His daughter is Sue Hunt, an accomplished trainer, and sons are Billie, Jimmy, and David, all riders well known to Quarter Horse racing.

His granddaughter said the family would appreciate your prayers.
