Night School

Night School, the racing industry's national online fan education program, puts its focus on American Quarter Horse Racing in Tuesday night's lesson plan as the prestigious $2.4 million All American Futurity looms on the calendar this Labor Day weekend. A fantastic panel of AQHA racing experts will take fans through the ins and outs of handicapping "America's Fastest Athletes" and also preview Monday's All American Futurity. The season's 30th of 40 Night School lesson plans begins at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Panelists on the 90-minute program include Tom Dawson, who has been associated with horse racing as an official, owner, bloodstock agent, television commentator/producer and handicapper for 40 years. The former ESPN horse racing producer has covered the All American Futurity since 1974. Also appearing in the live chat in Night School will be panelists Martha Claussen, coordinator of the AQHA's Q-Racing Aces fan education program, along with her fellow Q-Racing Aces instructors Jen Perkins and Denis Blake. Horse Player NOW's AQHA handicapper Jerry Shottenkirk also will lend his insights.

Tuesday's session will also include a vast unveiling of the FAQ :60 instructional videos produced by AQHA Racing and Horse Player NOW. The 60-second, fast-paced videos each cover a specific topic about handicapping the shortline sport. Night School will be hosted Tuesday by Jeremy Plonk, a former Equibase chart caller for American Quarter Horse Racing in Oklahoma and Colorado.

This week's Night School will be followed by another "After Night School Special," featuring live racing from Mountaineer Park, from 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET. The segment will cover the late daily double in real time with free, live-streaming video and complimentary Daily Racing Form past performances.

Presenting title sponsors for Night School are the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Inc. and Daily Racing Form. Tuesday's session will be the 30th of 40 Night School lesson plans throughout the 2012 season, which continues through November.
