Look Forward Yearling Tops LQHBA Sale

Mixed sale posts comparable numbers to last year.

A Look Forward yearling named Blaze Forward was the high-seller on Saturday during the annual LQHBA Fall Mixed Sale conducted at the Coushatta Casino Resort near Kinder, Louisiana.

Cecil Walker paid $14,500 for the gelding out of Fishers Prissy Lady, by Fishers Dash, from the Lynnette Douget consignment. Fishers Prissy Lady, a half sister to stakes-placed Shoot Shine, has produced two ROM including 2012 Fair Grounds track record-setter Special Britt SI 113 ($38,805) and Fishers Jessi SI 93 ($31,310).

Mamou Prairie Stables purchased the high-selling mare, Zazoom, for $7,500 from the Blanchet Farms LLC, agent, consignment. A winner of the 2008 Firecracker Derby, the Shazoom mare has earned $104,055. She was not in-foal.

Preliminary reports by the LQHBA reported that the sale grossed $226,000 and averaged $2,000. The median price for the 113 head sold was $1,100. The 2011 sale reported a $289,000 gross on 142 head sold and a $2,041 average. The median last year was $1,000.

Barbara Kelley was the sale's leading buyer with 14 head for $15,950. Cecil Walker purchased the one for $14,500, and Mamou Prairie Stables had two for $9,300.

Blanchet Farms LLC, agent, was the sales leading consignor with 12 head totaling $45,400. Lynnette Douget had the one head for $14,500, and Roohms Racing LLC sold nine head for $13,850.

Look Forward was the sale's leading yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) with two yearlings for $8,250. Agouti was the leading covering sale sire (by average with two or more sold) getting an average of $2,900 for two in-foal mares.
