The stakes-winning mare contracted colitis.

Dash Back Perry was euthanized yesterday, June 13, due to colitis.

Bred and owned by AQHA Second Vice President Johnny Trotter of Hereford, Texas, the 5-year-old mare by Mr Jess Perry earned $226,642 while compiling a 21-5-5-4 record on the track.

Dash Back Perry won the Charger Bar Handicap (G2) in January and the 2011 Las Damas Handicap (G3), both at Los Alamitos, where she also was second in last year’s Farnam Stakes. Dash Back Perry also finished third in the Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby and Zia Park Championship, and contested the finals of such Grade 1 races at the Golden State Million Futurity and Los Alamitos Winter Championship.

At the time of her death, she was the No. 2 aged mare by money earned for 2012.

One of six winners from eight starters out of the stakes-placed Dash For Cash mare Dash Back To Me, Dash Back Perry has a yearling filly by Walk Thru Fire and has produced two First Down Dash embryos.
