Cold Granite Stone to Stand in Kentucky

Multiple restricted Grade 3 winner Cold Granite Stone will begin his stallion career in 2013 at O'Brine Veterinary Hospital near Bowling Green, Kentucky. His fee has been set at $1,000.

Owned by Cory Kilgore, the 4-year-old son of Grade 2 winner and multiple stakes sire Granite Lake won or placed in nine of 14 career starts while earning $222,583. He won the Oklahoma Bred Futurity (RG3), Jack Brooks Stakes (RG3) and Remington Park Oklahoma Derby (R) and was second in the Lady Bug's Moon Handicap. He was also a finalist in the Leo Stakes (G1), Eastex Handicap (G2) and Easy Jet Stakes (RG3).

Granite Lake, a son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash, is the sire of earners of nearly $2 million including multiple stakes winner Chi Ter SI 106 ($380,628), the aforementioned Cold Granite Stone SI 109 ($222,583), Fly On Lake SI 103 ($199,387), etc.

Cold Granite Stone is out of the stakes-placed Skirt Chasin Alibi mare Hempens Chics Alibi SI 94, dam of 100% ROM winners form starters. She has also produced Grade 2 finalist Dashing Alibi V and winner KGM Smokin Chick SI 92. The second dam is the Grade 3 winner Easy Hempen Chic SI 107, by Easy Jets Image, who is the dam of eight ROM including stakes winners Chicks Delight SI 112 ($151,881), Chic Easy Colours SI 105 ($37,935) and stakes-placed Easy Chiseled Stone SI 103 ($46,001) and Olene Gay Chick. She is also the granddam of stakes winner Fame Fatale SI 102 ($55,511).
