Canterbury Fundraiser Set for Tornado Victim

Trainer Randy Weidner lost nearly everything in Oklahoma tornado.

The horsemen groups Minnesota Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (MNHBPA), Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association (MQHRA) and Minnesota Thoroughbred Association (MTA), along with Canterbury Park, have scheduled a benefit for trainer Randy Weidner on June 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Silks Bar at Canterbury Park.

Weidner lost his entire stable in the F5 tornado that hit Celestial Acres Farm near Moore, Oklahoma last week. The trainer lost horses, tack, a truck and trailer, all of his racing equipment and all of his personal effects in the May 20 disaster.

Admission is $15 and includes dinner and entertainment. A silent auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a live auction at 7:30 p.m.
