The Q-Racing Aces at Ruidoso

The Q-Racing Aces, AQHA's team of handicappers that visits racetracks to educate people about American Quarter Horse racing and handicapping, will be in Ruidoso, New Mexico, this weekend to take part in all the action leading to Monday's $2.4 million All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

On Sunday and Monday, Martha Claussen and Denis Blake will be at Ruidoso Downs at the information kiosk adjacent to the track entrance. They will offer complimentary handicapping materials, courtesy of AQHA, and be available to answer questions on American Quarter Horse racing.

"Since our program got underway, we have met wonderful fans at tracks all over the country," said Claussen, who serves as coordinator for the Q-Racing Aces. "Our goal is to take the intimidation out of learning more about American Quarter Horse racing and handicapping. We are happy to teach a first-time visitor how to read the program as well as discussing speed figures, class distinctions or how to play the Pick 3 with a more experienced horseplayer."

On Sunday and Monday at Ruidoso Downs, Q-Racing Aces will participate in the 11 a.m. handicapping seminar hosted by track announcer Robert Fox. Blake will lend his expertise on several radio interviews to preview the weekend's races, and Claussen will offer her analysis of the All American Futurity as part of TVG's live coverage on Labor Day.

The Q-Racing Aces have appeared at numerous racetracks, including Los Alamitos, Remington Park, Sandy Downs, Sam Houston Race Park, Delta Downs, Canterbury Park, Prairie Meadows, Evangeline Downs, Arapahoe Park and Emerald Downs. Both Claussen and Blake are veteran Thoroughbred handicappers and enjoy assisting Thoroughbred players in understanding the nuances of American Quarter Horse racing.

“We really enjoy interacting with the fans,” Claussen said. “This will be our third appearance at Ruidoso Downs for the All American Derby (G1) and Futurity. Denis and I are looking forward to answering any and all questions throughout the exciting weekend.”
