Race Record: Sky Bo Dash, a $40,000 Ruidoso Select Sale graduate, sprinted 440 yards in :21.579 to set the fourth-fastest time on the first day of trials to the All American Futurity (G1). With two-time All American-winning jockey G.R. Carter Jr. in the irons for three-time All American-winning trainer Dwayne “Sleepy” Gilbreath, the sorrel gelding by freshman sire Bodacious Dash drew off to win by 3 1/4 lengths.

Now an earner of $85,768 with two wins and two fourths from five starts, Sky Bo Dash broke his maiden on his third trip to post, when he won his July 3 trial to the Rainbow Futurity (G1). The sorrel gelding had finished eighth in his first race, in maiden company on April 17 at Remington Park. He shipped to Ruidoso after finishing fourth in his May 11 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) trial, from which heat winner Hearts Ona Hero qualified to the consolation and then finished a close second $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational (R). Sky Bo Dash came into the All American trials off a fourth-place run to Tres Friends in the $1 million Rainbow final on July 19.

Breeder: Sky Bo Dash was bred by the partnership of AQHA Past President Johnny Trotter with Burnett Ranches LLC of Guthrie, Texas. The partnership has earned more than $533,000 with 34 wins in 215 starts. The partnership was the 2013 champion owners and is in the top 30 of AQHA all-time leading owners.

Owner: Bobby Simmons of Midland, Texas, owns Sky Bo Dash. Simmons owns 45 Quarter Horses and has 15 wins from 64 starts for $510,919 in earnings. In 2014, he earned a 3-year-old filly racing championship with Foxy Moonflash.

Trainer: A top-five all-time leading trainer, Sleepy Gilbreath of Dennis, Texas, has 7,375 lifetime starts and 1,413 wins (86 stakes wins) for more than $28 million in earnings. He has multiple All American Futurity and Derby first-place finishes, including Ochoa, On A High and Refrigerator. He has trained Foxy Moonflash, Ochoa and Cold Cash 123 to racing championships in recent years.

Jockey:
The No. 1 all-time leading jockey, G.R. Carter Jr. has amassed $69.2 million in career earnings, including 3,784 wins and 362 stakes wins out of 23,825 starts. Carter was in the irons aboard All American Futurity winners Falling In Loveagain (1998) and Stolis Winner (2008). He rode Dashing Perfection to the 1997 All American Derby championship. Carter is the sport's most-decorated AQHA champion jockey (1993, 1997, 2003-2008, 2011-12).

Pedigree: Sky Bo Dash is one of 16 starters, of which four are winners, by Texas Classic Futurity (G1) winner Bodacious Dash, who earned $756,495 while also placing in such Grade 1 stakes at the Ruidoso Futurity, Rainbow Derby and The Championship at Sunland Park. Bred by Bob and Jerry Gaston and owned by Trotter, Bodacious Dash is a 7-year-old stallion by First Down Dash out of the graded stakes-winning Mr Jess Perry mare St Pats Tea and stands at Burnett’s Four Sixes Ranch at Guthrie, Texas.

Sky Bo Dash is one of 16 winners and the earners of more than $1 million out of the stakes-placed Chicks Beduino mare Sky Chicks ($47,912), who ran in world record-setter Evening Snow’s Los Alamitos Million Futurity (G1). Sky Bo Dash is a half-brother to stakes winners Dutch Schultz ($356,668, by Holland Ease), Spike It And Fly ($187,652, by Corona Cartel) and Rule The Skies ($29,243, by Rare Form).
