WCHA Get of Sire

The best kind of salute to MH Supremo.

Chester and Anne Prince couldn’t have asked for a better salute to their late stallion, MH Supremo.

Three World Conformation Horse Association judges, along with the fourth judge – the audience vote – put MH Spremo’s get group of three at the top of the WCHA Get-of-Sire class, November 16 at the 2012 AQHA World Championship Show. The Princes took home a check for $3,500 for the win, along with a limited-edition bronze trophy.

“This is a huge honor,” Anne said in her Journal Winning Run. “I want to thank everybody, WCHA, for putting this together and AQHA for supporting it and for allowing us to do it (at the World Show). It’s such a boon for those of us who raise and breed these horses. We needed this to let people see how consistent our sires can be and what they can do. I think it you could see by the crowd that everyone was enjoying the heck out of it, not just the breeders and owners. It’s really nice.”

A total of 36 top conformation horses – 12 stallions each represented by three of their get – filled the Jim Norick Arena for the historic class. It was a first-time appearance of the class at the World Show and for the WCHA.

More than 600 text votes were received from the live and online audience, as the fourth judge. WCHA judges presiding were John Lawrence, AQHA Professional Horsemen and AQHA judges Luke Castle and Randy Jacobs.

MH Supremo, a 1998 stallion by Obvious Conclusion and out of Whisper Of Flowers by Impressive Flower, bred by Mata Hamlin Quarter Horses of Ocala, Florida, was 2003 reserve world champion aged stallion. Chester and Anne Prince of Prince Farm in Palmetto, Florida, owned and stood the stallion, who died in February.  

He was represented in the pen by PF Premo (Prince Farms homebred out of Ima Credible Miss by Wincredible) led by AQHA Professional Horseman Dewey Smith; PF Amazing (Prince Farms homebred out of Two Thousand Kisses by Playgirls Conclusion) led by AQHA Professional Horseman Tom Robertson; and Sacreds Supreme (out of Sacred Sierra by Sierra Te) led by AQHA Professional Tyler O’Neal.

Placing second and earning a check for $2,500 was I Gotta Cool Secret (2005, I Gotta Cool Secret-Coolest Cowgirl by Ima Cool Skip; bred by Fred Monken of Fresno, California) owned by Bill and Kathleen Huckabee of Stephenville, Texas.

Third was The Top Secret (2001, The Secret-Sierra Tease by Sierra Te). Breeder and owner Clark Rassi of Aubrey, Texas, received a $1,500 check.
