For the second year, Dan Fox’s first halter horse is first in the world.

On November 11, Intersection was named world champion in amateur performance halter stallions with Dan at the shank at the 2013 AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.

“It was a lot of fun,” Dan said in his exclusive Journal interview after the win. “Intersection was really good for me today. He stood there and didn’t move, and so I got fortunate today.”

And for the second year in a row, Dan sponsored the class, meaning that his daughter Katie presented him his gold trophy.

“That’s the ultimate,” he said. “It’s so fun having her do that. We were glad to sponsor the class, and it was fun all the way around.”

Intersection is a 2006 chestnut stallion by Mr Elusive and out of A Honey Ofa Page by Page Impressive. He was bred by Kathy Pettit of Sanger, California, and Dan bought him as a 2-year-old.

“I’ve been showing him five years now,” Dan said. “He was my first halter horse. It was awesome. I worked with him a lot. He’s leading for high-point right now for open performance stallions, and he gets worked all year long in shows.”

In 2010, "Scooter" was reserve world champion in open and amateur performance stallions, and in 2012, he stepped up to world champion in open and amateur.

For performance halter, horses must have proven themselves in a performance class. Scooter is shown in five.

In addition to his gold trophies, Intersection is an open AQHA Champion, with points in heading, heeling, barrel racing, pole bending and ranch pleasure.

“He’s got over 50 performance points,” Dan said. “It’s been a very long year to get here. We had some lows and some highs. Today, we got lucky and were able to pull it out. (AQHA Professional Horseman) Jack Brizendine and Rose (Santos) had him looking just awesome, and it worked out great.”
