Joni James Roth of Kansasville, Wisconsin, “flirted” her way to the top November 14 at the 2013 AQHA World Championship Show.

In amateur 3-year-old fillies, Joni led Get Your Flirt On to win her first world championship, just weeks after her husband, Jim, led the filly to a reserve world championship at the Adequan Select World Championship Show.

“We were very excited about that and I’m very very excited about today,” Joni said in her exclusive Journal interview.

Get Your Flirt On is a 2010 chestnut mare by RTH Mr Wilson and out of Sierras Fascination by Sierras Black Gold. She was bred by Firman D. Yoder of Sugarcreek, Ohio, and Jim owns her.

“My mare was pretty good most of the time (today),” Joni said. “She kept stepping out with her one front foot a little bit, which gets to be aggravating once in a while. But basically she was a pretty good mare.”

Get Your Flirt On earned her open Superior in halter this year.

“She’s developed a lot more as a 3-year-old from her 2-year-old year,” Joni said. “She was third at Select World as a 2-year-old and she’s much more developed this year. We’re looking forward to possibly next year with her.”

AQHA Professional Horseman Tom Robertson of Saline, Michigan, fits the filly.

“We’ve known Tom and Mary for quite a few years and they’ve always done well with the horses,” Joni said. “And we have been friends a long time, and we go to Michigan quite a bit even though we live in Wisconsin. We keep our horse over there. I would like take time to thank (them) for all the hard work they do and all the preparation and helping me.”

Joni and Jim are looking forward to breeding Get Your Flirt On.

“That’s probably going to happen this spring,” Joni said. “That’ll be the next phase.”

Before that, though, she has plans a little sooner for a celebration.

“Probably dinner and drinks, then a long ride home.”
