Matthew Lakenburger and Very Cool kept their cool after winning the amateur 2-year-old stallions at the 2010 AQHA World Championship Show.
Matthew felt confident going into the amateur 2-year-old stallions on November 12, but he was still pleased with “Cool’s” win.
“I knew I had a shot, but it was a good class of competition and you just never know.” Matthew told The American Quarter Horse Journal.
Matthew and his father, Mark Lankenburger, have both shown Cool to many successes.
Cool won amateur yearling colts at the 2009 All American Quarter Horse Congress and was reserve at the 2009 World Show in amateur yearling stallions.
In 2010, Cool and Mark won a world championship at the Adequan Select World Championship Show in 2-year-old stallions and were reserve champions at Congress in the 2-year-old stallions.
The sorrel stallion’s personality matches his name.
“He’s a great horse, with a really laid back, great personality.” Matthew said during his Journal Winning Run interview.
What’s next for Cool?
He is standing at AQHA Professional Horseman Chris Arentsen’s barn, and they are getting ready to open the books for him, according to Matthew.
