Suzanne Jones of Tatum, New Mexico, and her homebred American Quarter Horse Dash Zandella, were crowned the Nutrena Senior Athletes of the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show. AQHA presented the award to Jones on August 29 at the Adequan Select World in Amarillo.

The award is given to the exhibitor and horse at the Adequan Select World with the highest combined age. Jones is a spry 88 years old and Dash Zandella is 14, giving them the combined age of 102. Dash Zandella is a 1999 black mare sired by Rebel Dasher and out of Zannadella.

Jones was awarded the Nutrena Senior Athletes in 2012 on her American Quarter Horse Freckles On My Mind, sired by One O Lena and out of Miss Ashley Freckles. Jones also showed Freckles On My Mind at this year's Adequan Select World.

AQHA is proud to team up with AQHA Corporate Partner Nutrena for this award. The Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show award recognizes not only the exhibitors, but also the equine athletes. Jones has been involved in nearly every aspect of the horse industry, including being inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1999.

Jones and Dash Zandella received a prize package that included 500 pounds of Nutrena feed and a plaque specially designed by AQHA’s trophy company, Awards Recognition Concepts.
