Suzanne Jones of Tatum, New Mexico, along with her homebred American Quarter Horse Freckles On My Mind, was crowned the Nutrena Senior Athlete of the 2012 Adequan Select World Championship Show. The American Quarter Horse Association presented the award to Jones on August 30 at the American Quarter Horse Association’s Adequan Select World Championship Show.

The award is given the exhibitor and horse at the Adequan Select World with the highest combined age. Jones is a spry 87 years old and Freckles on My Mind is 10, giving them the combined age of 97. AQHA is proud to team up with corporate partner Nutrena for this award.

The Nutrena Senior Athletes of the Show recognizes not only the exhibitors but also the equine athletes. Jones has been involved in nearly every aspect of the horse industry, including being inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1999. Freckles On My Mind is a 2002 sorrel gelding sired by One O Lena and out of Miss Ashley Freckles.

Jones and Freckles On My Mind received a prize package that included 500 pounds of Nutrena Feed.
