When competitors at the 2012 Adequan Select World Championship Show arrive in Amarillo for the August 24 - September 1 event, they’ll find a vast array of facility improvements waiting for them at the Amarillo Tri-State Fairgrounds.

The many facility improvements to the Tri-State Fairgrounds include a brand-new base and footing installed by by Kiser Arena Specialists – the same experts who install and maintain the ground for the AQHA World Championship Show-- in the Bill Cody Arena. Exhibitors will also find brand-new concessions stands and restrooms in the Bill Cody Arena. And there’s even more riding room with  a 50-by-100-foot addition to the outdoor covered arena.

“The Tri-State Fairgrounds staff has been working diligently to prepare the facility for the 10th year of the Adequan Select World,” said Tom Persechino, AQHA executive director of competition and breed integrity.

“Hosting the Adequan Select World in Amarillo, home of AQHA headquarters, means the world to both AQHA and the city of Amarillo,” Persechino added. “AQHA employees and the city of Amarillo staff have been working all year long to make the 10th edition of the Adequan Select World the most memorable year of the event for the competitors and their friends and family.”

The 2012 Adequan Select World will offer exciting competition for AQHA Select amateur members. Plans are already underway to make this 10th year one for the record books. The Adequan Select World is the world’s largest, single-breed championship horse show open exclusively to amateur exhibitors age 50 and older. This is the pinnacle event for Select amateur competitors around the world who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to secure a spot in each of the classes, representing English, over fences, western, speed, cattle and halter events.

For the 2012 event, AQHA has rolled out the red carpet for new awards. In addition to the coveted gold world champion trophy, horsemen (and -women) 70 years and older now have the chance to earn an AQHA Super-Select award for their efforts. Also, the Intermediate awards, which debuted at the 2011 AQHA world shows, will once again be presented to the top Intermediate-level riders in every class.
