2014 AQHA Novice Championship
Texas State Level Qualifier Criteria

Individuals wishing to qualify to represent Texas at the 2014 AQHA Novice Championship will have the opportunity to qualify nationally and regionally as well as at the state level through the Texas Quarter Horse Association. All candidates will be required to compete and qualify at the designated 2014 AQHA Novice Championship - Texas Qualifying Shows.

  • To be eligible to qualify in 2014 as a state level qualifier in Texas, individuals will be required to compete in their designated qualifying Novice Champion of Champions class at the 2014 Aggie Super Circuit held in College Station Texas on April 3-6, 2014.
  • Contestants who would like to qualify will be required to enter and compete in the Novice Champion of Champion Classes where offered. Champion of Champion classes will run in conjunction/concurrently with the corresponding Aggie Super Circuit Classes, however a separate Champion of Champions entry will be required for each class.
  • Novice Championship qualifying classes will be offered in both the Novice Amateur and Novice Youth categories in the following classes:   Halter Geldings and Mares - all age divisions including performance halter, Showmanship, Horsemanship, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Trail, Reining, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation
  • The top 3 competitors in each TQHA Novice Champion of Champions class will be recognized as a Texas State Qualifier and authorized to enter a 2014 AQHA Novice Championship show of their choice in either Murfreesboro, TN or Las Vegas NV.
  • To be eligible to compete in TQHA Novice Champion of Champion classes and/or to qualify for the AQHA Novice Championship as a state representative at either designated qualifying show, contestants must be a current (2014) member of Texas Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
  • In classes available for qualification where a Novice Champion of Champion class is not offered, contests will be allowed to qualify in the designated corresponding amateur, youth or novice class. Since no Novice Halter is offered in C of C, the regular Youth and Amateur Halter classes will count towards qualifying for the Novice Championships @ the Aggie Super Circuit. You will need to designate what class you want on a separate entry form and meet all other novice criteria. The top 3 placing novice exhibitors within these classes will qualify. These classes will be noted on the show schedule as the qualifying class. Since these are not Champion of Champion classes, a Champion of Champions entry fee will not be charged however a $5 Qualifier Entry Fee will be charged and membership requirements will still need to be met.
  • Individuals wishing to qualify at the state level for SPEED EVENT classes (Poles, Barrels & Stakes) that will be offered at the 2014 AQHA Novice Championship but are not offered at the 2014 TQHA Novice Championship Qualifying Show will have the opportunity to qualify for these classes at the Alamo Breeders Quarter Horse Show held in San Antonio on May 10-11, 2014. A $5 Qualifier Entry Fee will be charged and TQHA membership requirements will need to be met. A Champion Buckle will be awarded and shipped to 1st place novice qualifier after the show. The top 3 novice exhibitors in each designated class will be recognized as a Texas State Qualifier and authorized to enter a 2014 AQHA Novice Championship show of their choice in either Murfreesboro, TN or Las Vegas NV.
  • In the event that additional classes are added by AQHA to the 2014 AQHA Novice Championship, designated qualification locations for those events will be added.
