Qualifying and Classes

Find out if you are eligible to compete at the Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship and see the classes that are offered.

Qualifying
To qualify for the 2014 Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship,

  • Exhibitor must be Level 1-eligible from January 1, 2013 - March 21, 2014.
  • Must be Level 1-eligible in the class they wish to enter and be an AQHA member at the time of entry and at the time of the 2014 Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship. 
  • If an competitor graduated out of Level 1 in the 2013 show season, they are still invited to enter the event. 

Level 1 eligibility is determined on a class-by-class basis. If exhibitors would like to determine if they are Level 1-eligible in a particular class, they are encouraged to visit www.aqha.com/level1 to review the guidelines or contact AQHA Customer Service at 806-376-4811 for help in verifying eligibility. 

Classes

  • Reining*
  • Boxing
  • Working cow horse
  • Ranch horse pleasure
  • Cutting
  • Breakaway roping
  • Tie-down roping
  • Heading
  • Heeling
  • Team penning
  • Ranch sorting
  • Performance halter mares*
  • Performance halter geldings*

*To compete in a performance halter class, the horse-and-rider team must also be entered in a performance class at the Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship. And if a horse and rider compete in performance halter or reining at the Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship, they will not be able to compete in either of those classes at either the 2014 SmartPak West or Nutrena East AQHA Novice championship shows. If a horse and rider competed in reining and performance halter at the either the 2013 SmartPak West or Nutrena East Novice championships, they are still allowed to enter the 2014 Zoetis Cattle Novice Championship, provided they are eligible.
