The Texas Department of Agriculture continues its partnership with the Texas equine industry.

The Texas Department of Agriculture recognizes owners of Texas-bred horses through its Texas Equine Incentive Fund. The program awards incentives for points earned in Texas-sanctioned horse events. The opportunity to participate in TEIP is open to eligible Texas-bred Appaloosa, Paint and Quarter Horses.

To participate in the incentive program, owners of eligible foals should complete an enrollment form.

  • Owners of enrolled horses with a TEIP registration number should complete an application and certification to submit 2012 point totals to TDA by November 15, 2013. Incentive awards will be calculated based on these applications. Horses will not be eligible for an incentive payment if this application deadline is not met.
  • Owners of stallions must complete and submit a program participation form, along with a copy of the breeding report by November 20, 2013. This information must be reported to TDA for the stallion’s offspring to benefit from the TEIP program.

Program forms are available on TDA’s website, www.TexasAgriculture.gov, under the Grants section of the Grants and Services tab. Any questions regarding TEIP, program eligibility or qualifications can be directed to Meghan Jezek at 512-463-6695 or emailed to Grants@TexasAgriculture.gov.

The Texas equine industry makes substantial contributions to the agricultural foundation of the Lone Star State and TDA is pleased to be a part of a program that benefits it.
