The day was hot but the smiles and competition were hotter June 21 at the 2014 Merial AQHA Region Eight Championship in Wichita, Kansas.

After an early start with halter classes, exhibitors continued on with showmanship before moving into horsemanship in the afternoon.

The Region Eight Championship includes Rookie and EWD classes, and exhibitors eagerly filled those up for a chance to win Region Eight prizes, including the coveted buckles from Montana Silversmiths.

The competition concludes June 22 with the naming of high-point winners.
