Competition ended with a burst of speed June 8 at the 2014 Merial AQHA Region Nine Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, with roping, reining, ranch pleasure and speed events.
The show also named all-around winners in four divisions who will receive a Montana Silversmiths belt buckle.
Novice Youth 13 & Under: Stella Cummings of Meridian, Mississippi, riding Leaguers Sweet Sugar, a 2000 chestnut gelding by KCees Lethal Weapon and out of Im A Sugar Baby by Im a Big Leaguer. He was bred by Edward D. Mulick of Henderson, Nevada.
Novice Youth 14-18: Jenna Seal of Meridian, Mississippi, riding A Tuff Golde Zipper, a 2000 palomino gelding by Tuff As Gold and out of Ticks Zippoette by Zippo Pine Bar. He was bred by Hugh H. Trotter Jr. of Anthony, New Mexico.
Novice Amateur: Elizabeth Johnson of Dothan, Alabama, riding Mr RV Radical Chip, a 2009 bay gelding by Radical Rodder and out of Miss Good Cookie by Zips Chocolate Chip. He was bred by Ronnie Kent of Graceville, Florida.
Select: Linda M. Smiley of Byhalia, Mississippi, riding Unbridled Chocolate, a 1997 bay gelding by Chips Hot Chocolate and out of Miss Major League by Im A Big Leaguer. He was bred by Brent C. Lawson of Whiteville, North Carolina.
The next Merial AQHA Regional Championship is June 19-22 in Park City, Kansas.
