Western Gunslinger, a two-time AQHA halter world champion and world champion sire, is dead, announced owners Donnie and Lisa King of Kings Quarter Horses in Crescent City, Florida.
“It’s a heartbreaking goodbye to our fabulous stallion, Western Gunslinger,” the Kings said. “He passed on February 6 due to complications from an intestinal tumor.”
A 2007 sorrel son of Golden Gunslinger and out of Western N Coolest by Coolest, Western Gunslinger was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rolling of Luverne, Alabama. The Kings purchased Western Gunslinger from his breeders in April 2008.
Among his many accolades, Western Gunslinger was the yearling and 2-year-old stallions world champion in the open division at the 2008 and 2009 AQHA World Championship shows, and also earned the amateur yearling stallions reserve world title with Lisa at the shank.
“Winning the (All American Quarter Horse) Congress and the AQHA World Show, and siring winners of the same (caliber has) brought us great joy and excitement,” the Kings added. “He fulfilled our dreams and proved himself to be a very special horse.”
Of his 103 registered foals, Western Gunslinger’s offspring have earned three world championships, three reserve world championships, 1,628.5 points and 32 halter Registers of Merit. His world title-earning offspring include Gun Fighter, Ugonnakissmeornot and Secret Gunfighter.
“We would like to thank all the people who have called or sent condolences,” the Kings said. “It’s comforting to know so many loved him.”
