In 2013, AQHA will host five Ranching Heritage Challenge events. These will be entry-fee only events, and horses do not have to be nominated to compete.
Ranching Heritage Challenge – Pueblo, Colorado
Date: August 28 – 29, 2013 Event: Colorado State Fair Location: Horse Show Arena Entry Fee: $250 (does not include office or cattle charges) Stall Fee: $25 for stone, $20 for wood stalls Added Money: $13,200 in added money courtesy of AQHA, Colorado State Fair, and T-Cross Ranch. With $10,000 split between the open and non-pro, $3,500 for the cowboy class, $3,500 added to the limited open class and an additional $1,000 added to the amateur, courtesy of Bar G Feedyard. Does my horse have to be nominated to compete in the Ranching Heritage Challenge? No! For 2013, horses do not have to be nominated to the Ranching Heritage Challenge to compete in Fort Worth or Houston. This is an entry-fee only event with the majority of the entry fee being paid back in the purse, along with $18,000 in added money from AQHA and valued sponsors.
How do I know if my horse is eligible? Any 4-year-old horse (as of January 1, 2013) that was bred by a Ranching Heritage Breeder is eligible to compete in the open or limited open in any Ranching Heritage Challenge for 2013.
Any 5-year-old or older horse (as of January 1, 2012) that was bred by a Ranching Heritage Breeder is eligible to compete in the amateur class in any Ranching Heritage Challenge for 2013.
I bought a horse from a ranch, how can I find out if it was a Ranching Heritage Breeder? You can find a complete list of approved Ranching Heritage Breeders online at www.aqha.com/ranchingheritage. Or you can call AQHA Customer Service at (806) 376-4811.
Are you having trail trials at Fort Worth? Yes! We will be having the first Ranching Heritage Challenge trail class on February 7, 2013. The class will kick off at 10 a.m. in the John Justin Arena. Entry fee is $75, not including office charges, with $5,000 added money.

Fort Worth: Download entry forms at www.fwssr.com, or call Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo at (817) 877-2400. Deadline for entries is December 30, 2012.
Houston: Download entry forms at www.rodeohouston.com or call Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at (832) 667-1012. Entry deadline is February 1, 2013, and the late entry deadline will be February 10, 2013.
