The Streakin Clean Tops Merial Sandy Downs Challenge Trials
Consistent mare earns top qualifying spot for July 27 final at Sandy Downs.

Coming off a win at the Jerome Fair on June 9 and a second-place effort in the Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge in May, The Streakin Clean raced to a three-quarter length win over RTM Say Your Prayers on Saturday evening to score the top qualifying spot in the Merial Sandy Downs Distaff Challenge trials at the Idaho track.
The 10 fastest fillies and mares from the two trial races contested Saturday night will return on July 27 and vie for the winner's share of a $16,000-added purse and starting spot in the $125,000 Merial Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) on November 9 at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Under jockey Eddie Aceves, The Streakin Clean won with ease as she completed the 400 yard course in :19.966, a 92 speed index. Monty Arrossa trains the Streakin La Jolla 4-year-old for Leonardo and Javier Olmos.
H&E Ranch Inc. bred the sorrel miss in Arizona from the Corona Cocktail mare Theslatesclean. The super consistent mare has won six of 12 starts and been in the money 10 times with earnings $20,195.
The aforementioned RTM Say Your Prayers held to the second-fastest time of :20.105 for owner/breeder Susan Hanson. Mark Hanson conditions the Chickie Cherry Cola mare out of Shirleys Secret, by Dashin Is Easy. A stakes winner with seven career wins, RTM Say Your Prayers has earned $36,106. Dirk Crane was aboard.
Six-year-old Righteous Look won the second the trial and posted the sixth-fastest overall time of :20.261. Ricardo Castillo saddled the Righteous Brother mare for owner Adrian Aleman. Pazazz Quarterhorses Ltd. bred her in Oklahoma from the Sixarun mare A Sweet Look.
