Rogue County Ready at Ajax

Juveniles shine in John Deere Ajax Juvenile Challenge.

August 23, 2012

Cedar Creek Tree Farm Ranch and Racing’s Rogue County has found a good spot for a stakes win when he starts as the fastest qualifier in the $30,000 John Deere Ajax Downs Juvenile Challenge on Tuesday at the Canadian track.

The winner of the John Deere Ajax Downs Juvenile Challenge qualifies for the $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) on October 27 at Prairie Meadows.

Rogue County (Kipas Special-Royal Stakes Quick by Royal Quick Dash) topped the two trials and led the top-three qualifiers into the finals with a neck win over second-fastest qualifier Hi N Dry (Royal Shake Em-Its A Dry Heat (TB) by Dixieland Heat) and third-fastest qualifier CR Cartin The Cash (Carters Cartel-Air Traffic Controlr by Dash Thru Traffic) was another three-quarters of a length back in third.

The Cedric Hayden-trained Rogue County broke his maiden in his fifth out when he took the second of two trials in :18.030 for the 350 yards. Rogue County had qualified for the Pot O Gold Futurity at Sun Downs in Washington and the Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass Downs in Oregon.

Cummings Cattle Company’s Hi N Dry broke his maiden in his previous out before his close second-place run in his trial for trainer Greg Watson. Cadence Racing’s CR Cartin The Cash was sent off as the trial favorite after a third-place run and a fast-closing second in her two previous starts.
