Prince Valleyant Reigns in Dash For Cash Futurity Trials
Valiant Hero gelding to be among favorites in $473,300 final at Lone Star Park.
September 16, 2012
Lone Star Park held 14 trials on Saturday night for the $473,300 Dash For Cash Futurity (G1), and the fastest qualifier did not emerge until the final heat when Prince Valleyant scored by two lengths in a time of :19.506 for 400 yards.
Ridden by Larry Payne and owned and trained by Russell Harris, the gelding by Valiant Hero broke his maiden in his fourth career start after racing in trials for the Grade 1 Ruidoso, Rainbow and All American Futurities at Ruidoso Downs. Bred in Texas by Bobby Cox, Prince Valleyant became the fourth winner produced by the Bag (TB) mare Itsmybag (TB).
The second-fastest time came out of the first of the 14 trials as Flying Hooves RC LLC’s One Handsome Man clocked :19.511 with Oscar Rincon up for trainer Ralph Muniz. The One Famous Eagle colt came in after a victory in an All American Futurity trial that was not fast enough to put him in the final.
