Priceless Feature Returns in Mr Jet Moore
Stakes winner returns for aged horse campaign.
April 4, 2013
Last year’s Heritage Place Derby (G2) winner, Ed Melzer’s Priceless Feature, makes his 2013 debut against Oklahoma-breds when he heads the $50,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes over 350 yards on Saturday evening at Remington Park.
Priceless Feature (Feature Mr Jess-Southern Price by Corona Cartel) won six of nine starts last year while racing against top-tier company at Remington Park, Ruidoso Downs and Lone Star Park.
At Remington Park, in addition to his Heritage Place Derby score, he finished fourth in the $246,000 Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Derby (R). He maintained his hot form at Ruidoso Downs when he held the lead in the $900,000 Rainbow Derby (G1) until the last stride and finished second by a head behind two-time champion Ochoa. Then at Lone Star Park last fall, he wrapped up his sophomore campaign with a third-place run against older horses in the Refrigerator Handicap (G1).
Weetona Stanley and William Smith’s Fast Prize Jordan (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Fast Prize Doll by Mr Jess Perry) should be sharp after winning the Mighty Deck Three Handicap in his return from a six-month layoff. The Brian Muse-trained gelding won by three quarters of a length with a sharp :12.91 time for the 250 yards.
Fast Prize Jordan qualified for the Grade 1 Texas Classic and Heritage Place futurities two years ago and made only two starts last year.
Colby Cartel (Teller Cartel-Show Me The Wire by Special Effort) and Wagons West (PYC Paint Your Wagon-De Elegant Dash by First Down Dash) race as an entry for owner Wade Helton and trainer Alfredo Gomez.
Colby Cartel comes off a fourth-place run in the $136,000 Oklahoma Derby and Wagons West finished fourth in the Mighty Deck Three and then returned to win his maiden.
