Philips Streakin, Scooter Prize Meet in LQHBA Futurity

Top runners meet for promising race.

Jaime Torres’ Philips Streakin and Ana Alvidrez’s Scooter Prize each bring consistent records and are the top-two qualifiers to the $286,560 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) for Louisiana-breds on Thursday at Fair Grounds.

Philips Streakin (Heza Fast Dash-Six Streakin Salute by Streakin La Jolla) has finished in the top-two runners in each of his five starts and comes off a stunning 1½-length trial victory. The gelding raced the 350 yards in :17.649 for the top time from nine trials.

In his only other stakes appearance, Philips Streakin was second in the Louisiana Juvenile Stakes (R) two starts ago as the 2-1 favorite.

Scooter Prize (First Prize Perry-Royal Baby Scooter by A Royale High) showed her stakes potential three starts back when she was third in the Louisiana-bred Lassie Futurity (RG2) and then posted back-to-back wins. The Miguel Rodriguez-trained filly won her maiden by 2 lengths at Delta Downs and then took her Sale Futurity trial by a half length as the 3-10 favorite. She was clocked in :17.679 for the second-fastest qualifying mark.

Brock Broussard’s Heza Fast Rogue (Heza Fast Dash-Miss Jess Rogue by Mr Jess Perry) will be a threat with three wins and a fourth-place finish in the Delta Downs’ Louisiana-bred Futurity (RG1) in his latest four starts. He earned a spot in the Sale Futurity with a length win in his trial at 1-5 odds and the third-fastest qualifying time of :17.727.
