Ocean Runaway Geldings Top Zoetis Sam Houston Challenge Trials
Well-bred geldings run 1-2 in second heat to set the two fastest times.

A pair of Ocean Runaway geldings finished a neck apart and 1 ¾ lengths ahead of the field to set the top two qualifying marks for the Zoetis Sam Houston Starter Allowance Challenge at Sam Houston Race Park on Friday night.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from the two trial races will return to the Houston racetrack on Saturday, April 27, and vie for the winner's share of an $18,000-added purse. The race is for Bank of America Racing Challenge-enrolled horses who have started for a claiming price of $5,000 or less within 12 months prior to the sustaining/late payment deadline. Also up for grabs will be a starting position in the $75,000 Zoetis Starter Allowance Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos Race Course on November 9.
Under jockey Luis Vivanco, DW Runaway B dueled with Ocean Bank throughout to win the second trial by a neck, recording the fastest qualifying time of :17.935 for 350 yards. The Ocean Runaway 4-year-old races for Robert Guzman and is conditioned by Manuel Vega Jr.
The half brother to Grade 2 winner and $460,270 earner Eyesa Jumpn has won three of 14 career starts, earning $10,225. Bielau Oaks bred the gray in Texas from the stakes-winning Holland Ease mare Jump Jive An Wail.
The equally well-bred Ocean Bank held on for the second-fastest time of :17.957. Also a 4-year-old son of champion Ocean Runaway, Ocean Bank is from the graded stakes-placed Bully Bullion mare Shake The Bank. Juan Saucedo trains the gray gelding for Filimon Saucedo. Eleazar Hernandez was aboard the Hector Roldan Arreola Texas-bred. The two-time winner has earned $14,439.
Trainer Judd Kearl saddled Freddies Crash to a neck win and the third-fastest qualifying time in the first trial for owner Virginia Sitton. It was the fourth win for the 6-year-old Fredricksburg gelding form the graded stakes-placed Dash Thru Traffic mare Crash Thru Traffic. Bred in Oklahoma by Andria Armer, Freddies Crash was ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo to a time of :18.204.
