May 6, 2013

Making her first start in nearly a year, Sherman Hadley’s Feature Miss Alibi rolled to a one-length victory in Sunday’s $24,120 Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge in Kennewick, Washington. The 4-year-old daughter of Feature Mr Jess dashed 400 yards in :19.82 with Jordan Hadley riding for trainer Susan Hadley.

The win was worth $11,578 for Feature Miss Alibi and earned her a berth in the $125,000 Merial Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) to be run November 9 at Los Alamitos Race Course in Southern California. This marked the third career win for Feature Miss Alibi, who was bred by Tony Greaves out of the stakes-placed Dash Ta Fame mare Alibi Fame. The Utah-bred Feature Miss Alibi has banked $20,618 with a career record of 8-3-1-2.

Javier and Leonardo Olmos’ The Streakin Clean, a daughter of Streakin La Jolla who came in off an allowance win at the Gem County Fair in Emmett, Idaho, took second with Joe Crispin riding for trainer Monty Arrossa. L Bar D Snow Princes, the winner of last year’s Merial Sun Downs Distaff Challenge for owner Gerardo Sanguino, crossed the wire third with Troy Stillwell aboard for conditioner Donald Young.
