Les Bois Park hosts three Bank of America Racing Challenge races on Friday.

July 5, 2012

Jim Walker’s homebred Bux For Cocktail, racing in the $22,500-added Adequan Les Bois Derby Challenge, heads one of the three Bank of America Racing Challenge stakes on Friday at the Idaho track.

Also on tap is the John Deere Les Bois Juvenile Challenge and the Red Cell Les Bois Distance Challenge.

Bux For Cocktail (Zoomin For Bux-A Perfect Cocktail by Corona Cocktail) has crossed the wire first in his three starts since a third-place run in the John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge as the 8-5 favorite back in October. After being disqualified and placed second for interference on November 4, he easily won his Jerome Tell Him Twice Derby trial by daylight (qualifying for the final, but scratching) and then dominated his Adequan Les Bois Derby Challenge trial by 2 lengths. His time of :19.592 was easily the fastest qualifying time from four trials.

Monty Arrossa trains Bux For Cocktail and also sends out third-fastest qualifier SW Count On Me (Count Corona-Raise A Rhoda by Raise A Secret), winner of his trial by 1 1/4 lengths. The Wright Brothers Ranches-owned gelding was a close third in the Bitterroot Derby (R) two starts ago.

In the $22,500-added John Deere Les Bois Juvenile Challenge, Robert Hickman’s Margaritas N Coronas (Corona Czech-Fly Margarita by Strawfly Special) has proven to be a consistent gelding for trainer Bret Vickery. Margaritas N Coronas came through with his second career score when he won his trial by a half length in :17.513, the quickest mark from seven trials. He has two wins, a second and a third from his four starts.

That trial also produced second-fastest qualifier The Midnite Caller (A Regal Choice-Cee The Blurr by Murrtheblurr (TB)) and Ms Eaves (Tres Seis-Little Ms Tuff Stuff by Chicks Beduino). The Midnite Caller was timed in :17.579, while Ms Eaves checked in with a :17.595 mark. Homebred The Midnite Caller races for Jerry and Marta Loveland and Laura Southworth. Ms Eaves races for the Perez/Gomez/Dias/Dena partnership

In the $15,000-added Red Cell Les Bois Distance Challenge, Rene Laatsch’s Yin Your Eyes (Eye Yin You-Apollo Snowbound by Snowbound (TB)) will be dangerous with six wins from eight starts last year and coming off a win over the Les Bois surface. The Bill Hoburg-trained gelding raced to his most important victory when he pulled a 16-1 upset in the Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos in October. He also won the Red Cell Sandy Downs Distance Challenge.
