Oscar Rohne’s La Mos Chingono captured the $35,000 Party Girl Stakes (R) on Saturday at Louisiana Downs for the second consecutive year. The 6-year-old daughter of Heza Fast Dash rallied to prevail by a neck and stopped the timer at :17.701 for 350 yards with John Hamilton aboard. The mare was sent off as the 3-1 third choice for trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.
Bred by Robicheaux Ranch Inc. out of the Gold Regent (TB) mare Rita Regent, La Mos Chingono won last year’s Party Girl by a half-length, also with Hamilton in the irons. The sorrel runner now has five career stakes wins, including the Restricted Grade 3 Billy Montgomery EVD Stakes (Division 2), and she has hit the board in six other stakes. Her career record now stands at 19 starts, eight wins, five seconds and three thirds with earnings of $268,470.
Jorge Meraz’s Time Of Love, a 4-year-old mare by Bigtime Favorite, had an early lead and held on for second. Joseph Landreneau’s Jessalittlecourage took third, a neck in front of even-money favorite Game Patriots Delux.
Also on the card, Israel Soliz Jr.’s Sparrow Contender picked up his second stakes win of the year and third consecutive win overall in the $15,000 Swift Stakes at 350 yards. Piloted by Martin Rubalcava for trainer Fructuoso Huitron, the Texas-bred colt by Contend got the distance in :17.531.
Sparrow Contender, who was bred by Irma Trevino, scored in the 250-yard Harrah’s Dash Stakes last time out at Louisiana Downs and prior to that won an allowance content at Lone Star Park. The 4-year-old has won five of 14 career starts with earnings of $33,744.
Dash For Cache finished second in his stakes debut and three-time stakes winner Taylors Toastin Papa took third.
